Montserrat, Barcelona, Spain 26Apr2015

We were back to Barcelona
where our cruise itinerary started

First segment is ending up here and
some of passengers would leave the ship
and we would have some newbies today.

We were on a ship's tour to
'Monserrat'.

From Barcelona, it took about one hour by bus.

It is Benedictine Abbey built on
mountain Monserrat (1,236m).

Mountain with deep valley is so spectacular
especially with it's rock formation and natural rock pillars!

Church on the monastery is famous for
the black statue of the Virgin Mary.

Morning was so foggy that we could not see
a thing while we drove up to the mountain.
It started clearing up at midday.

According to our tour guide,
We came to the mountain early
to beat other tourists
even if it would be so foggy.

Good on you!
As a result, we did not have to wait long
in line to view this famous black statue.

It must be very popular for local Catholics.

a line to see the statue

There are cable car, railway and funicular

 Most impressive scenery it was!

On our way back from Monserrat to Barcelona,
I wanted to get dropped off near La Rambla while
other passengers on the tour bus
went to directly back to the ship.

And, I got to see these happy people on dress
singing on horse carriages on busy street of La Rambla! :)
