Great expectation for St. Petersburg, Russia was
well paid off after two day visit of this great city!
We knew that it would be the highlight of our trip.
We have pre-organised a two-day private tour
for just two of us.
Anna, the tour guide and Slava, the driver
from Anastasia tour
greeted us once we passed the immigrations
at the cruise terminal rather promptly.
We have never been so excited
before any tour like this time!
It is a virgin visit for both of us.
Not even 10 minutes passed in the car,
we were already overwhelmed by
Anna's knowledge and pride toward
her hometown, St Petersburg.
Having just two of us means
our two day itinerary can be flexible
as we wish!
But, we respect Anna's plan and follow
her idea of touring the city.
First day will be covering
Peter & Paul Fortress,
local Metro experience(by our request),
Church of the Savior on the Spilled Blood,
Russian lunch by our request,
St Isaac's Cathedral
and The Hermitage museum.
Neva river is one of 90 rivers and canals around the area.
St Petersburg is nicknamed as 'Venice of the North'

It would the longest escalator ride to any subway platform for us
Metro guard is watching any misbehaviour
Peter & Paul Fortress was built on Hare island in 1703
(when the Peter the Great founded the city) to fight
against Swedish although it has never been used
for its intended purpose.
The spire of the cathedral is the highest point of the city. (122.5m)
The Hermitage is seen across Neva river
There were few brave people
sun bathing(?) around the Fortress.
Hope they are not going to swim
in this freezing water with dangerous current?

We arrived in the Church of the Savior on the Spilled Blood
after crossing Neva river as our second stop.
Savior on the Spilled Blood is built by Alexander III
to mark the spot and commemorate Alexander II
who injured by terrorist group and later died.
