Market in Bagan, Myanmar 12Dec2015

We had a pre-arranged private tour to Bagan
through Shalom Myanmar travel agent in NYC.
It was a strong recommendation from friends
who have wonderful experience with.

It was an overnight and
full two day tour.

Bagan is just over an hour flight from Yangon and
famous for more than three thousands of
pagodas and temples built nearly thousand years ago.

We already knew that this tour will be
our highlight of this trip.

So excited!

We were picked up from port Thilawa at 4 AM
to catch a 7 O'clock flight.

Airport is about one hour drive away from the port.

We were amazed when we got to the
domestic airport where everything is done
with handwritten paper works
and manual labor without
any computer terminals in sight.
But, it was punctual and worked just fine!

We were greeted by a local tour guide
at the airport of Bagan when we landed.

First stop was a local morning market.

Looks like these ladies in the market need
a strong coffee to wake up and so did I

Betel leaves to wrap betel nut to chew.
Kind of a chewing gum/snack like Indians.

Women in Myanmar grind this tree branch
with water to put on their faces
as sun tan lotion

 Yummm.
Nothing like a hot bowl of noodle soup
in the early morning in the market.
Sure it is more expensive in the city
and restaurants elsewhere but
it only costs less than a dollar here.
